Just a short stroll from Harajuku station is one of Tokyo’s top sightseeing spots, the Meiji Shrine. This is where the late 19th-century emperor Emperor Meiji is enshrined. You do not need to go far to get a taste of Tokyo’s local culture. If you are lucky enough, witness a Japanese wedding ceremony (usually held on weekends). On the way to the shrine is a long pavement beautifully lined with trees.  You will also notice barrels of sake along the way, these are offerings to the enshrined deities at Meiji shrine.
